What to expect
Your first session
A first session is a conversation. It lasts 50 minutes.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
You get your fee in writing, and a link to the forms on our own portal. Please keep medical details out of this website.
- 02
Step 2: The first conversation
You say what you want and what you would rather leave alone for now. I ask about your history only as far as you choose.
- 03
Step 3: How I work
I explain what EMDR and body-based work ask of you, what they can stir up, and what stays private. Then you decide.
- 04
Step 4: Before you leave
We slow down together, agree on a next step and answer your questions about fees and cancellation.
What the first sessions are not
Many people arrive braced for more than will happen. Here is what these sessions leave out.
Not a full account
You do not have to tell me what happened. Many people never tell the whole story, and the work can still go ahead.
Not memory work
No hard memory is processed in the first sessions. Getting ready comes first, and EMDR starts only if you want it.
Not a commitment
You can stop after one session. Saying so needs no reason.
Not a test
There are no right answers and nothing to pass. I am asking what you want and what has helped.
Not a push
"Not today" is a full answer. I will not ask you to say more than you want to.
Not a verdict
I will not tell you what is wrong with you. We start from what you carry and what you need.
About the first session
01Do I have to tell you what happened?
No. You decide what to share and when. Many people never tell the whole story.
02Can I bring someone with me?
You can ask. We will talk before the visit about whether it would help the work.
03What if I want to stop?
You can end a session early or stop therapy at any time. I ask only that you tell me, so we can talk about what comes next.
Ready to write?
Tell me how to reach you. I reply on weekdays.
